Portfolio updates

Over the last week I've worked on the rest of my website, chopping and changing how the pages for each project work and load. I've recorded a video to show off how the old website looks before I officially publish the new one. Below is a link to the video:

In regards to the upgrades made to the website, I've matched the colour to the homepage so that everything stays aesthetically pleasing. To create the colour palette that I am using, I used this website:

I think that it works quite well and keeps the website relatively minimalist. In trying my best to keep the specific project pages short and sweet, I made sure to only have them be a few paragraphs long while also including a more in depth breakdown of my role in a blog that is linked within each project at the end of the page. Overall the portfolio/website is coming together quite well! I've decided to keep the blog section of the website clear from public view as I have used it for a few things that its best not to share with anyone outside of Ulster University, such as;

  • Talking about any struggles I've had with game dev and or work.

  • Content which I've been asked to keep private by companies but have full permission to share with Brian and or any other lecturers. (TimeQuake early access footage).

  • In future I will be sharing more work in regards to projects I have going on outside of game-dev to give more insight into my weekly life e.g. running my eBay store.

  • Any plans for future projects which may not come through a full development cycle.

The great thing about using Wix for this website is that I can work on the website without publishing anything too early as well as changing the entire website and being able to publish all of the changes all at once, so that the website looks great instead of being half done. It's important to me that this website looks great as in the future I'd like to include it both on my Twitter page as well as my LinkedIn page.

The majority of the individual sections of the website are now completed in terms of transitioning them to the new format and style, I will wait until I am 100% confident before I publish it anywhere, my milestone goal for the website being published is November 1st. With this being only a few weeks away I've went looking for domain names instead of just using "josh.devlinportfolio". I've been very lucky as I've been able to pickup the domain name "joshdevlin.co.uk" This is great as no matter what I'll be able to use this domain forever as long as I renew it every year. Currently I am confident that I will be able to hit my milestone date of November 1st.

TimeQuake Play test

Insider test 2

This week was the second insider test. These tests are held on a Thursday, usually between 15:00 and 16:00. The insiders consist of myself, some other students, dedicated fans and the development team for the game. Each week we test out different changes and specific parts of the game.

Not many changes this week

In testing this week, there was not many changes when compared to the previous week. This week we were asked to play the game as normal and to report on any bugs that we found, as well as provide feedback for anything we thought should be changed. Below is the FULL, unedited footage of my time testing the game this week as proof that it took place.
